The marketplace is located right after you spawn. Factions are formed groups used to claim land, wage war, and group together to build. A faction protects the territory of its members and helps the people claim enemy territory. The qualifications to start a faction is to have a rank above peasant and $7000. It also cost to join a faction which is 300$ while claiming lands would be 500$ if unconnected additional 500$ with 0.3 multiplier that means if you claim again it will cost you more than 500$.
