Description
1.17, the first release of Caves & Cliffs, is a major update to Java Edition released on June 8, 2021.[1][2][3][4] It was first announced during Minecraft Live 2020 on October 3, 2020.[5] This update adds amethyst geodes along with amethyst blocks and items, copper ore and its derived forms, deepslate and its variants, and the goat, glow squid and axolotl mobs.
Early on in development 1.17 included many features that were later delayed until 1.18, such as revamped mountain and cave generation, the lush caves and dripstone caves biomes, and an increased world height.
